Definitely one of the most stressful things that you can do is move home, trying to conduct a carefully orchestrated experience which in most cases may and will often go wrong at some point. To be honest getting it right when moving home is a rare occurrence but with our help and advice, you may find solace in learning a few import steps to reducing your worry and stress levels the next time you move home. Ok, so we understand how crazy the whole physical ‘moving house’ thing can be but what about important steps to remember before you move home. Today we look at 5 of the most commonly found issues that can get overlooked or left until the very last minute when all else is taking place.

1) Get in touch with you gas and electricity providers.

One of the most crucial and important steps to remember is to make the relevant calls to your energy suppler or suppliers. Letting them know well in advance of your move will allow them enough time to arrange and send you an estimated final bill or at the least know where to send you your bill when you move and take a note of the final readings within the property. If your home is run via gas and electricity prepayment meters, allow your credit to run down to a couple of pounds so as not to lose out on credit that you may not gain back. Again, it is a good move to mention to your energy provider that you are moving house and to forward any further correspondence to your new address.

2) Consider a postal redirect request by contacting the post office.

The Post Office offers a service for forwarding or redirecting your mail for you when moving home. Available for a reasonable fee, you can choose from different lengths of time, from a month to 6 months or even a year, the postal redirection service simply allows all your mail to be sent to your new address, keeping your mail safe and secure until you inform all parties of your move and to ensure that any parcels or packages already sent make their way to you.

Here at Boxes4Move, the online blog for MAD4BOXES you can find a growing library of tips and advice when planning to move home. Providing the perfect solution for homeowners, students and businesses when moving in-between property, the range of boxes are constructed using the best quality cardboard and manufacturing techniques. Offering a range of strong sturdy cardboard boxes for individual uses such as CD boxes to large Tea Chests, you can be sure that your goods and possessions will reach their destination in the same condition as they left your hands. As professional packing and moving box manufacturers, retailers and suppliers, we understand the needs of our customers and offer a cost effective solution to your cardboard moving box requests.

I know it may seem insignificant and a trifle eccentric to mention the importance of choosing your moving boxes carefully, after all a cardboard box is just a cardboard box and could you justify the purchasing price when you could go to your local supermarket or shop and ask them for any spare cardboard boxes? Well the answer to that is simple and easily put. If you have ever packed before for a move, have you noticed that your clothes have all needed ironing again once reaching your destination, no matter how carefully you tried to pack them? In the same instance, used boxes have a tendency to collapse when stacked upon each other. In our experience, many have reported breakages happening when moving home.

We have the solution in the way of a complete comprehensive collection of cardboard boxes that have been specifically designed to fit certain uses and requirements such as the innovative wardrobe boxes that come complete with a coat hanger rack for your shirts, pants and more. As possibly the leading experts in moving boxes, MAD4BOXES invites you to view the terrific range on the website, allowing you to pick and choose from a wide selection of thick, durable, reusable cardboard boxes or purchase a complete pack designed for complete house moves, including protective packaging and tape. Here to assist you in all your needs, we charge a small price to ensure that your belongings are safe and secure when you move home.

When first organising your move, consider what containers or cardboard boxes you will want to use. These ideally must be of a certain quality and strength to avoid any breakages of your belongings in transit. If you’re packing a large number of items, it really is a good idea to source more boxes than you think you might need and when packing, try to distribute the weight of heavier items evenly to reduce injury.

Boxes4move provides exceptional advice and assistance for home movers across the UK, putting you in touch with the experts who can provide complete packaging services and solutions for any size of move. Providing individualised box solutions for those looking for the perfect storage and moving boxes, the online experts at MAD4BOXES are more than happy to provide a complete packaging system for your home move.

Now, simply reusing second boxes is not ruled out completely, however it is hard to tell if the rigidity of the packaging has been compromised, in other words, a used cardboard box will more than likely compress and buckle, if items are placed on top.

Greetings again and welcome back to more tips when creating your move planner. We last talked about contacting your gas and electricity suppliers and a point to make is to provide accurate meter readings on the day you leave your property so that you don’t have excessive bills to worry about. One of the biggest mistakes we make when moving is letting your family and friends know that you are moving away.

Send your change of address details to those within your personal directory to ensure you don’t lose contact with your friends and relatives. If you receive a newspaper or magazine subscription, milk and dairy products delivered to your door, make sure to cancel your account or have it changed to be delivered to your new address.

Remember to contact your insurance companies, such as car insurance and buildings/content insurance to be transferred over to your new property. Let your boss or employer know in addition to your local National Insurance or DSS office so that they can update your records.

Redirecting your mail is an easy process and can be used to buy you some time whilst you inform all the necessary individual parties that you have moved home. Don’t forget to change your telephone number or have it transferred if possible to your new home. Check back for more tips and advice over the next few weeks!

Always a strain on your resources and mind, moving home can be one of the most stressful and worrying experiences we have yet with the right guidance it can be one of the most exciting. Here at boxes4move.co.uk we help by issuing advice and pointers that can make any move more enjoyable and easier for you.

We will be mentioning from time to time a range of handy tips and advice to make your move less stressful and hopefully trouble free. Our topic today is how to arrange a Move Planner. Planning your move can allow you to take a step back from all the commotion giving you a time table of events to go by and the right preparation to avoid any confusing encounters.

If you are moving home by yourself, be sure to have arranged a large enough van for your possessions. Make sure that you use an approved and reputable removals company if otherwise. Remember to inform all credit card companies and banks you use, that you are changing address so that all statements will be sent directly to your new home.

Utility providers need to be informed as soon as you know you are to move and check to see if there any charges for disconnecting appliances such as your gas oven for example. Check back shortly for further tips to use in your move planner.

Not to put a too finer point on it but when you are preparing to move home and are arranging your belongings ready to pack away, consider the following. First off you really need to ensure that you have enough cardboard boxes to sufficiently pack all your items and belongings. They really need to be strong and reliable, just as the packing boxes from MAD4BOXES are manufactured.

When packing your sturdy boxes try and consider weight distribution across all boxes, not just filling one with heavy items such as CD’s or books and others with pillows and cushions for example but spreading the weight evenly between your cardboard moving boxes. This is to ensure that you don’t injure yourself or make it difficult for the removal company moving your items.

If moving yourself, plan to dismantle large furniture such as wardrobes and beds in advance so that you are ready on the day. If using a removal company, many request you to do this beforehand. For small items such as ornaments and picture frames, use bubble wrap and foam to protect any breakables whilst in transit.

If you choose to, you can buy complete packs from MAD4BOXES to adequately provide suitable protection. Again for any electrical equipment such as hifi and other audio visual equipment, use bubble wrap and foam to minimise any chance of damage when in transit.
